WELCOME
To the class wiki for ENGL 2720, Introduction to Literature: Drama
Ryan Jerving, Fall 2011 (sections 101)
You've come to the right place if... ...you are a student enrolled in this course at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and you seek:
fuller descriptions of daily reading and other preparatory assignments and access to class materials;
the online discussion boards for reading and responding to the daily questions your instructor will post about the class materials
space to post or edit your own individual or collaborative materials, such as your reviews of local theatrical productions
See the Site Menu to the right of this page to link to the different sections of this site, including the detailed assignment calendar, the discussion boards, and the student theater review page.
Getting set up
The first thing you'll need to do is to create a profile (username/password) for Wikispaces, and then "join" this page (the steps for doing this are listed below).
If you find you need more help getting set up and started on contributing to this wiki, you can find fuller instructions and advice on the "How to Wiki" page I've created, or just e-mail me at ryan.jerving@marquette.edu .
REGISTER WITH WIKISPACES:create an user name and a password at http://www.wikispaces.com. It's best for reasons of classroom civility to make your username recognizably related to your actual name (e.g., "ryanjerving"). This step is like setting up a Facebook account.
JOIN THIS SITE: click the "sign in" link at the upper right corner of any page on the ENGL 2720 "All Play" wiki, and follow the instructions to go to your account and, from your dashboard, add the "all-play" wiki to your list and then perform the action of joining it. This step is like searching for someone on Facebook, and then sending a friend request.
REQUEST MEMBERSHIP: When you select "Join this Wiki" in the step before this one, you will be directed to a new page with one big button that you will click to request membership. Do this, then be patient while you wait for another human (me!) to visit the site and confirm your request. This step is like having someone confirm your Facebook friend request.
POST TO THE SITE: Once I've confirmed your membership request, you'll be able to write and edit anywhere on the site (including the discussion boards). Just sign in first. This step is like sending messages, posting status updates, or uploading photos/videos to Facebook.
